$1,200,000 Verdict Auto Accident / Transit Bus Runs Stop Sign

A passenger in a car was on his way to a family member’s funeral when he was severely injured. A transit bus operator failed to obey a stop sign. The man suffered fractures to his shoulder blade, right wrist and right femur that required multiple corrective surgeries totaling $85,000 in medical expenses. The bus company’s last offer was $230,000. In April 2017, the jury awarded $1.2 million dollars after a three-day trial. The verdict was reduced to $855,000 because of Maryland’s cap on non-economic damages.

$400,000 Verdict Wrongful Death / Police Officer Drives into Pedestrian

A Maryland State employee failed to see a stopped vehicle with its hazard lights activated on the highway and swerved into the shoulder, striking, and killing a man who had pulled onto the shoulder to retrieve a washing machine that fell out of the back of his pickup truck onto the roadway. The Yost Legal Group represented the family of the man who was struck and killed for the emotional harm suffered by the loss of their loved one. The State argued that the man was contributorily negligent and responsible for his own death in failing to properly strap-down the washing machine to his vehicle. $200,000 Settlement Auto Accident

Army veteran suffered permanent lower back injury and mild traumatic brain injury when a man blew through a red-light at an intersection and struck the veteran in the intersection. The insurance companies claimed that the man’s injuries and deficits were the result of pre-existing conditions.
